Sun Myung Moon

Sun Myung Moon (1920–2012) was a Korean religious leader who, together with his wife Hak Ja Han, founded the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, formerly known as the Unification Church.

At the age of 16, on Easter morning in 1936, Moon experienced a mystical encounter with Jesus during deep prayer. In this vision, he was instructed to take up Jesus' unfinished work and establish the Kingdom of God on earth. Over the years that followed, Moon had numerous spiritual experiences in which he received revelations of the Divine Principle, a text that illuminates God's nature, his purpose of creation, and his work throughout history up to the present day.

Moon's teachings, centered on the Divine Principle, emphasize the importance of family, marriage, and restoring divine order. He is particularly known for the mass marriage ceremonies he conducted, uniting couples from diverse cultures in a symbolic act of promoting peace and unity.

In the late 1990s, the Unification Church officially became the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, refocusing its mission on global peace, human development, and interfaith dialogue. Moon also founded several NGOs, such as the Universal Peace Federation and the Women's Federation for World Peace, which hold consultative status with the United Nations and work on peace initiatives aligned with his vision.

Despite facing criticism during his lifetime, Moon's teachings and organizations continue to influence global peace efforts today.

In the state of mind-body unity, your conscience and body enter a realm of resonance

Instead, cultivate a joyful mind. Although you may be lonely, and appear miserable in the eyes of the world, create an unbreakable bond with your mind and try to be your mind’s best friend. Within the harmony and unity of your mind and body, you will discover a world where all of heaven and earth are spread out before your eyes. In the state of mind-body unity, your conscience and body enter a realm of resonance. Referring to this dimension of the mind, the Buddha said, “Throughout heaven and earth, I am my own lord.” Ask yourself if God is dwelling in you, and you will hear the answer.

Jesus teaching / Buddha’s declaration - can be understood in the same way.

A good illustration of this is Jesus’ teaching, “The kingdom of heaven is within you.” This concept of the kingdom of heaven has nothing to do with worldly affluence or power, and is echoed in many other faiths. Buddha’s declaration, “In all of heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one,” can be understood in the same way.

God in Buddhism

Furthermore, since Buddhism teaches that all Dharma is constantly changing, while the truth is found in the "Suchness" (眞如) behind the Dharma, we can say that "Suchness" in Buddhism represents the absolute essence. (122-300, 25.11.1982)

The Buddhist expression would be that you need to purify your inner nature.

The teacher closest to you is your own, original mind. Your original mind is more valuable than your closest friend, indeed, even more valuable than your father or mother. You should ask your original mind for advice. God resides there. You should learn to listen to what your original mind tells you.  You must achieve this state. The Buddhist expression would be that you need to purify your inner nature. What Buddha meant with the words: "I am my own master in heaven as on earth," is that you will find that God, the Lord, dwells within you when you look into your own heart.

In a state of unity between his mind and body, he (Buddha) was saying

Once you enter a state of love, you will find that each and every being exists as the only, unique being. When the Buddha said, "In heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one," he was not speaking casually. In a state of unity between his mind and body, he was saying, "As it is now and was in the past, heaven and earth are in harmony. Gazing into myself and at everything in motion, having entered the realm of resonance of true love, I can see that God resides within me, all things of creation are within me, andall things are my friends and brothers and sisters.

This is why Buddhism encourages us to meditate

Our mind constantly redirects us along our way. It tells us, “Turn around. Return to the ancient place. Return to the deepest place in your mind.” This is why Buddhism encourages us to meditate. The reality of our life on earth is that through our original mind’s guidance we sorrowfully seek our original selves. Once we have purified ourselves and returned to the ancient place, it is excruciating to recall our past, even in dreams. God’s goal is to eliminate this kind of sorrow-filled life.

Achieving the realm of resurrection of heart

The standard of perfection will be established by achieving the realm of resurrection of heart, with
God's love manifested on earth. Thus, I proclaimed the Day of the Resurrection of Heart centering on that
realm of resurrection in the Unification Church. The resurrection of heart is the foundation for the
resurrection of substance. Ultimately we become one with God centering on that oneness of heart and the
love of God and, centering on that oneness of heart and the love of God, the body must become one.
