Unfortunately, there is ignorance about this among people outside the church, but also among many within the church. They think that the goal of our life is, at best, our moral improvement, that is, that we become better people. But the Gospel, the tradition of the church, and the holy fathers teach us that this is not the goal of our life, that is, that man becomes better than he is – more moral, just, temperate, attentive. All of this must happen, but none of these things is the great, ultimate goal for which our maker and creator made us.
What is this goal?
Deification. The unification of man with God, not in an external or sentimental way, but existentially and truly.
